Geschichte der Straße , Oeser

Adam Friedrich Oeser (1717–1799) was a prominent painter and sculptor in Leipzig. After training in Bratislava, Vienna, and Dresden, he moved to Leipzig in 1759, where he became the founding director of the Leipzig Academy of Art in 1764.

  • Famous Pupil: He taught drawing to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe between 1765 and 1768.
  • Notable Works: He decorated the banquet hall of the Gohliser Schlösschen, the interior of the Nikolaikirche, and created the Royal Monument.
  • Family: He had eight children; his daughters Friederike and Wilhelmine and his son Johann became well-known.
  • Legacy: He is commemorated in Leipzig by the Oeserstraße in Schleußig and the Adam-Friedrich-Oeser-Schule in Eutritzsch.
